Christopher L. Elder, M.D.

Biography

Dr. Christopher Elder is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of injuries and musculoskeletal disorders of the upper and lower extremities. He specializes in general orthopedics and sports medicine, and uses non-surgical, conservative and minimally-invasive surgical procedures to safely return patients to the activities they enjoy. He cares for athletes and active people of all ages and skill levels, and is skilled in arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, hip and knee. As one of the few orthopedic surgeons in western North Carolina who regularly performs hip arthroscopies, Dr. Elder has special expertise in treatment for hip injuries.

A graduate of Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Elder completed an internship in general surgery at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he also completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. He serves as lead team orthopedist for the Asheville Tourists Baseball Club, Single A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and has been recognized by the Rockies for his excellent care.

In addition to providing patient care, Dr. Elder holds several leadership positions, serving as a member of the Board of Directors and as the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board of the Orthopaedic Surgery Center of Asheville. A proud member of western North Carolina, Dr. Elder enjoys traveling and spending time with his family in his free time.
