Biography
David Pope, after graduating from medical school in Georgia and doing research as a postdoctoral fellow in Iowa, completed his residency at Yale University School of Medicine followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship in New York. David and his wife, as new empty nesters of three children, have moved to the area to join Asheville Orthopaedic Associates and Mission Health after 20 years of private practice in Alexandria, Louisiana, where he specialized in sports medicine, advanced arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder, and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Pope will serve as an orthopedic specialist for the communities of Spruce Pine, Burnsville, and the surrounding areas. He, having grown up in Atlanta, Georgia, and his wife in Buncombe County, considers this a move home and will enjoy experiencing life, family, and friends in the beautiful North Carolina mountains.
