Joseph M. Dement, M.D.

Biography
Dr. Dement joined Asheville Orthopaedic Associates in 1988. He is a general orthopedist concentrating in the area of joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery. He is originally from Tennessee. Dr. Dement served as orthopedic service line physician leader for seven years. He was presented with the St. Joseph Hospital Quality Improvement Outstanding Achievement Award in 1994 and 1996 for his work with the quality team in development of clinical paths to standardize and improve post operative care of orthopedic surgical patients. He was also instrumental in developing an anticoagulation prophylaxis protocol to decrease the incidence of complications related to blood clots. Dr. Dement served on the St. Joseph’s Health Services Board from 1995-1998. He also served as vice chief of staff and credentials chairman.
Dr. Dement sees patients at our Asheville office.
